Erdemli Wastewater Project Gets Timeline for Tömük and Arpaçbahşiş
A clearer schedule for a major coastal service
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer said the Tömük-Arpaçbahşiş Kanalizasyon Şebekesi, Atıksu Arıtma Tesisi ve Derin Deniz Deşarjı Projesi is moving ahead on schedule, giving residents a clearer timeline for a long-awaited coastal infrastructure improvement. Speaking during the municipality’s July assembly meeting, Seçer said sewer network work, including road repairs after construction, is planned to be completed by December 2027.

The wider project includes a wastewater treatment facility and deep-sea discharge system for the Erdemli district neighborhoods of Tömük and Arpaçbahşiş. According to the report, Seçer said a 22 million Euro credit agreement had been completed and construction had begun. He said the treatment plant, deep-sea discharge works and subscriber connections are expected to be ready before the 2028 summer season, a key deadline for a coastline that sees heavier seasonal use.

The assembly meeting also handled 74 agenda items, including 51 items from municipal units, 22 items referred by commissions and one off-agenda item. Seçer also mentioned rural development, women producers and agriculture support after attending the 8. Lavanta Hasat Şenliği in Silifke Çaltıbozkır, and announced that applications for Mersin Metropolitan Municipality’s YKS and LGS support course centers remain open until July 17.
